Here fishy fishy fishy
Finally, the wait is over and the river is warm enough to wet wade! Temps are in the upper 50's which is perfect for lots of caddis and wet wading. I love not having to wear those damn waders because when I am not in them I don't have to worry about falling in. Consequently I take a few swims trying to get to the next good hole. Today I crossed the river at a shallow spot then swam back across below a deep hole when I was done fishing, thats the perfect way to cool off. The river has been clearing up and coming down a little more every day and has been fishing well. The fish have moved into faster water to escape the heat and are eating a lot. I have been hooking up with a lot of really small fish between 6 and 12 inches, kinda frustrating to not be getting into the big guys that I know are there but its still pretty fun landing those little fish. If you turn over any rock you will find a LOT of bugs; yellow sally nymphs, small mayfly nymphs, caddis nymphs, all in big numbers. The caddis are green with black heads in their pupa stage and grey in the adult stage, mayflies are brown and yellow along with the yellow sally. Get out and enjoy this beautiful weather!
