Autumn fly fishing

Leaves are changing, pumpkins are ripening, and the temps are cooling.  Autumn describes the season in the sierras this time of year much better than fall because it sounds far more pleasant, and this time of the year is just perfect.  Not only is it perfect to be outside all day but it is a great time to fish, probably one of my favorite.  The browns are getting ready to spawn and are starting to get more active, abundant summer hatches have started to dwindle, bringing streamer fishing into its own, even though fish are still eating a variety of nymphs.  You really cant go wrong.  Today I finally got to show my brother one of my favorite places on the Carson river.  I caught two nice fish on black streamers, that big guy took me forever to land because I couldn't fit him in my net!  I got him on a rabbit fur bugger.  My bro landed a few and I caught a few more small ones too.  Now is such an amazing time to get out and enjoy the abundant country we have out in northern Nevada and California, whether its hunting, fishing, or anything.  I write this blog to hopefully inspire a few people to get out and explore and fish, because after all, it was a blog that got me wanting to learn to fish the truckee.
