Rippin lips on the reservation!!
I learned to fish on rivers, I feel comfortable on them, I love them. Especially when there are native fish and crystal clear water. Since my love for stream fishing runs so deep, I rarely convince myself to go to any lakes. Today, however, I caved and drove out to Pyramid. I gotta say I wouldn't have taken the plunge if it weren't for my buddy Dave who is in sweet puppy love with that place. After today, I know why. Dave showed me some of his favorite places to stake his ladder into the sand and we fished all morning. I caught 6, missed god know how many and had one hell of an awesome time. Dave caught the biggest fish of the day with a close to 5 lb cutt and spent the rest of the time laughing and bending his rod on those fish. There aint nothin better than good fishing with a good buddy when you spend the whole day cheering, laughing, and feeding off each others positive energy like those cutthroat feed of the record number of chubbs. The fish were so aggressive; Dave got one cutt to take his fly 6 times before he finally hooked him and landed him. I had two fish, one huge ruby red male and one sleek silvery female hit my streamer, spit the hook causing me to rip the fly out of the water, then chase my fly on the surface coming out of the water after it. If I could give a word of advice... take a rest from the river, work, or whatever, grab your ladder, head out to pyramid, and throw fast sinking like on your 7 or 8 wt with olive and tan buggers attached on the end. Oh ya, almost forgot one more thing... hold on.
