Truckee river is the place to be

The flows are right and fish are hungry! Fishing on the Truckee has been productive every morning from 6 am until about 11 when it starts to warm up and the bite slows down.  I don't know about you, but in summer I love eating BBQ food, the fish have some favorite meals this time of year too. Golden and tan Stones (6-8), caddis pupa olive or tan (14-16), pheasant tail tan, brown, or black (12-14), and birds nest same colors.  I know this is nothing new as every website says the same thing about what is working.  The key to this time of the year is weight, the fish hunker down in the sun and heat and if you can get a fly to them, they will likely eat it.  I tie all my flies with weight and I add a big piece of split shot to my line.  I have also had a few morning grabs on streamers, so if you get out real early and are feeling daring give it a shot.  I prefer white bunny streamers, but lots of people swear by olive and black.  Good luck and maybe I will see you on the river this weekend.  Heres a pic of my buddy Dave, who go this guy on a sz 14 brown pheasant tail fished below a stone.
